The windows and side mirrors are automatic, and the stereo boasts radio, CD and auxiliary options. The bucket seats in the front are gently curved to hug the bottom, and the driver's seat boasts several adjustments, so that one is in the perfect position to see over the dashboard. There is plenty of legroom in the back, as well as a generous trunk for a regular grocery run or a family vacation to the beach. The heat and ac have never failed to produce toasty warmth and icy cold. The build is sturdy, and received only a few dings during a massive hailstorm-impressive! The paint has kept its color and vibrancy, and the top coat is as shiny as the day I drove it off the lot. The passenger side door lock has never worked automatically, and Kia wanted to charge over two hundred dollars to repair what should have been an easy fix.The 2008 Kia Spectra is an excellent car. There was a recall with this to do a new rustproof and undercoating. Rust damage has started to show up, and Kia sent out a notice saying the undercoat was showing issue with not protecting the car from rust damage. The snow and salt have not been kind to the outside body. I've had to superglue that back together. I have found some of the window trim has started coming off. The engine seems louder now in its old age like it's on its last leg, just trying to get me where I need to go. Could just be from living in the north with all the bad weather, but seems like I'm always having to get them changed out. The check engine light came on earlier this year due to a faulty oxygen sensor. Took about a day for it to break as well. After taking off the inside panel and repairing the handle, I found the inside handle was also breaking. The outside driver's side door handle ripped off in my hand as I was trying to get inside. Now that the Kia Spectra is about ten years old, it seems to be showing its age from what I can tell. Kia is a must-own car if you love value and savings. Gets you where you need very reliably, and safely. The outside design is very sleek and pretty. It is a small and compact vehicle that can fit almost anywhere. It is a comfortable car for all passengers, and has plenty of room in the trunk for luggage and or groceries. Handling in rain has also been a high point with this Kia Spectra. We get a ton of snow and ice up here, and I have never felt like I was in danger of getting stuck or swerving off the side of the road. I moved up to upstate NY about five years ago, and have found this car to handle exceptionally well in bad weather. This has given me great confidence when I take it on long road trips that it will make out there, and back. The car has upheld over the last 8 years, giving me very little issues and little cause to be in the shop. The car has proven to be generally easy in repairs and maintenance. Kia Spectra has fantastic gas mileage, but still has enough power to make you feel good on the road. Not because it is giving me issues, but because I am just ready to say goodbye. Now, 8 years later I am finally looking to trade this car in. I always feel like I have plenty of power, but know I am saving on fuel costs. Gas mileage has also been a great feature with this car. The car runs well, and stays comfortable even after a long ride. Never had any kind of trouble out on the road. Another aspect of traveling, is I take a lot of trips in this car. Us and all of our luggage fit with no issues. Went with three other guys to the beach for a Memorial Day weekend. The inside was roomy could have five people in it with no issues. In the last 8 years, besides normal maintenance and a few odd mechanical problems, this car has been incredible. That was fine with me I drive cars until they die. Sure the car is good, but it doesn't hold its value. Even after buying the car, there were naysayers. Now in 2008, Kia was becoming the underdog in performance and quality. I remember before this time, they had always told my father and I to stay away from Kias.
